I think that the first line should read,
Well, the train to Grinder's Switch is runnning right on time.

Grinder's Switch is basically a railroad juntion that Minnie Pearl made famous during her show at the Grand Old Opre.

More importantly, Grinders Switch was a southern rock band of the same era as the others mentioned in the song (Allman bros, Wet Willie etc.). I have one album from them put out in 1972.
